Obituary

Angelo "Lucky" L. Rudolfi, 96, of Olyphant, passed away peacefully Friday morning at home. He was the son of the late Dominick Rudolfi and Gazelda Leandri.

He attended Taylor High School until he left to work in the mines. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17, where he served in World War II and the Korean War. He was an atomic veteran and member of the Fifth Marine Division. He fought through the Pacific Islands, including Iwo Jima. He earned two purple hearts. He often spoke fondly of his time spent training in Hawaii.

After his enlistment, Angelo worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot and then the Dunmore Cemetery before retiring.

If you asked him what attributed to his long life, he would have told you waking up early, exercising daily and, of course, a nice glass of Chianti red wine with supper every night. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his family and watching the news, country westerns, documentaries, Penn State and the Steelers.

Angelo was married to his late wife Shirley Tuffy Rudolfi for over 60 years. Together they had five children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who all affectionately called him "Bompee," the nickname given by his first grandchild.

Surviving are his children, Angelo Rudolfi and wife Marie Rudolfi, Waverly; Daniel Rudolfi, Dunmore and former wife Walene Rudolfi, Throop; Maria Gaughan and husband Bryan, Olyphant; Gary Rudolfi and wife Karen, Clarks Summit; Dominick Rudolfi and husband Jeffrey McKenzie, Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Danielle DeOliveira and husband Brian, Scranton; Jennifer Spager and husband Frank, Dunmore; Dustin Rudolfi and wife Liz, Clarks Summit;

Also surviving are sisters, Brenda Gallagher and husband Jack, Dunmore; and Edith Cacciamani, Dunmore; as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Yzenas and Donna Jenkins.

His family would like to thank Traditional Home Hospice, caregiver Anne and VA home-based nurses Monica and Michelle.

A blessing service at the Morell-LaBelle Funeral Home, 301 Chestnut St., Dunmore will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
