Barbara Jean Farren, wife of Richard Farren, passed away late Friday evening, Sept. 4, 2020, at Regional Hospital of Scranton after a lengthy illness. The couple would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on Sept. 14.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late William and Marie (Mary) Longo Tur. Barbara was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Scranton. She worked many years in the garment industry for Somark Glove and Linden Dress.
She dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her friends. She especially enjoyed celebrating her granddaughter Katelyn's college graduation and her trip to Florida to celebrate her granddaughter Amber's high school graduation. She enjoyed many trips with her husband to casinos from Canada to Florida. The couple celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Barbara Keller and Wesley, of Dunmore; Michelle Jacques and Ken, of Lake Winola; and Debbie Abraham and Sal, of Boca Raton, Fla.; two granddaughters, Katelyn Jacques and Amber Abraham; and two granddogs, Dudley and Comet.
The family would like to thank the staff at Regional Hospital of Scranton for their care, especially Richard, Lindsay, Kim Marie and Lauren. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to both Dr. Weston and Dr. Olsen for their excellent care over the years.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. P.J. McLaughlin.
The viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Interment, Cathedral cemetery. Those planning to attend are asked to proceed directly to the church no later than 10:20 a.m. Social distancing will be followed with mandatory mask wearing upon entry.
Memorial contributions can be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton; or the animal rescue of the donor's choice.
