Obituary

Carmella M. Kornetka January 3, 2022 On January 3, 2022, our world became a less brighter place with the passing of Carmella M. Kornetka, 84 at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. Carmella was born in Dunmore, the daughter of the late Antonio and Francesca Calomino Provinzano. She was a member of St. Mary's Mount Carmel parish. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School. Prior to her retirement she was the cook at the Friendship House in Scranton. Carmella was an amazing woman with a heart of gold. She impacted the lives of many through her generosity, caring and compassion. She would help anyone in need. Carmella was an excellent cook and shared that gift with many including her sons and grandsons at nightly family dinners. Everyone was welcome at her table, and no one ever left hungry. She was a supportive and caring friend and was blessed with many lifelong friendships. She will be sorely missed by her adoring sons, Anthony and his wife Lisa, Dunmore; Frank, Dunmore; her grandsons, who are her pride and joy, Alexander and Christopher, Dunmore; step-grandchildren, Torrie and Chad Eckrote; and step-greatgrandchildren, Chad, Brayden, Bella and Joseph. Carmella is also survived by her brother Angelo Provinzano and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Carmella will also be dearly missed by Lori Citti and her husband, Andre, who she loved, adored and considered her daughter. She was also preceded in death by brothers, John, Frank, Tony, Joseph, Sam, Peter, and Emil; and sisters, Catherine and Rose. The family would like to especially thank her home caretaker Terri Topa-Unger, who Carmella adored and looked forward to seeing daily, and the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart. Due to COVID-19 concerns the funeral will be held at Saint Mary's Mount Carmel at a date to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to: Saint Judes 501 Saint Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
