Caroline A. Luongo, 84, of Dunmore, Pa., passed away peacefully on Monday morning, June 30, 2025, at St. Mary's Villa in Elmhurst Township, Pa.

Born on July 23, 1940, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Saverio "Sam" and Catherine (Torch) Zaffino Sr.

Caroline attended Dunmore schools, worked as a caregiver at Laurel Hill Nursing home, as well as being part of the Finelli's restaurant staff. She was also a devoted homemaker for most of her life.

Above all, Caroline loved spending time with her family—especially her three grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino to play the slot machines. Her greatest happiness came from simply being with her husband, Gaetano "Guy"-her soulmate and the love of her life.

Caroline passed away on what would have been Guy's birthday—a poignant and beautiful reminder that love transcends time. For those who knew them, it brings comfort to imagine that the best gift he could have received was being reunited with her once more.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Gaetano Luongo; her twin sister, Catherine M. Scarantino; and her sister, Rosalie Zaffino.

Surviving are her sons, Angelo and Saverio "Sam" both of Dunmore; brother, Sam Jr, and wife, Sue, Zaffino of Moscow, her cherished grandchildren, Angelo, Anthony, and Lauren; great-grandson Angelo; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00AM Wednesday July 9th at Immaculate Conception Church 801 Taylor Ave, Scranton.

Those who will be attending the funeral are kindly asked to go directly to the church.
