Cecelia T. Coyer
May 13, 2022
Cecelia T. Coyer, age 97, died peacefully late Friday evening in the Dunmore Health Care Center, where she resided for the last 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Anthony Coyer, in 2017.
Born in Eynon on October 16, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (nee Zukosky) Benderovich. She attended Jessup High School, and was employed in the garment industry for many years, initially with the Barbizon Corp. of Jessup. Most recently, she was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church in Dunmore. Her faith was her rock in life, and with a great devotion to the Rosary, her passing on the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima surely seems to be Providential.
Ceil could create, sew and repair nearly any type of clothing. She gained great joy and pride in crafting hundreds of outfits with perfection for herself, her children and grandchildren. Numerous photos of her handiwork over the years remain in tribute to her exceptional talents as a seamstress. Her efforts in the kitchen were no less impressive, as she lovingly cooked and cared for her family while maintaining an impeccably neat and clean home.
She is survived by a son, Anthony and wife Julie, Strafford ; son Mark of California; grandchildren Colleen D'Agostino and husband,.Phil, Philadelphia; Stephen Coyer and wife, Rebecca, Melmont Park; great grandchildren Felix and Leo D'Agostino and William and James Coyer; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Francis Hallock, Anna Petersen and Helen Yourkowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 21, at 11 am in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St. in Dunmore, with interment immediately following at Dunmore cemetery. Friends and family will be received Saturday at the church from 10 until Mass begins. Condolences may be offered online at todd@morelllaballefuneralhome.com or to Tony Coyer, 647 Wallace Drive, Strafford, PA 19087.
