Cheryl Scaccia

Cheryl Scaccia, 64, a resident of Dunmore, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 28, after a brief illness. Her husband is Michael Scaccia, with whom she spent 37 years of marriage.
Cheryl was born in Scranton to Alice (Straub) Domenick and the late Benjamin Domenick. She graduated from Dunmore High School in 1978. Cheryl was employed at Barry Callebaut, formerly known as Gertrude Hawks, for the last 20 years.
Cheryl loved being a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, but most of all she took pride in being a grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and going to the beach, especially for her yearly family reunion. She often loved spending her days by the pool and drinking a glass of wine or two with her mother and daughters. Most of all, she enjoyed spending all of her time with her beloved grandson.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Michael Scaccia; her mother, Alice Domenick; daughter, Michelle Knowles and her husband, Dan; her daughter, Melissa Scaccia; and her grandson, Colton. She is also survived by her brothers, Michael Domenick and wife, Linda; Benjamin Domenick and wife, Angela; Joseph Domenick; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Domenick; a brother, John Domenick; and many aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank all of those involved in her care, especially Dr. Bruce Solitar of NYU.
The viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Morell-LaBelle Funeral Home. The funeral will be private at the request of the family.
