Obituary

Concetta "Connie" Terrery, 90, of Dunmore died Wednesday peacefully at home in Dunmore.  She was married for 60 years to her loving husband Charles Leo Terrery, Sr. who passed away in 2019.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Bartley and Jean Mecca Bocchino, Connie graduated from Marywood Seminary and Marywood College with a B.S. in Education.  She played field hockey and was a certified lifeguard while at Marywood.

Upon graduation, Connie held various teaching positions and was retired as a substitute teacher in the Dunmore School District.

Connie served as a past president of the Marywood Seminary Alumna Association.  She was also a past member of the Scranton Preparatory School Parents Club and served as chairperson of the Scranton Prep "Spectacular" in 1981.

Connie was also a past member of the Lackawanna County Pharmaceutical Association Auxiliary and Scranton UNICO.

Connie had volunteered at Allied Services, Holy Family Residence, and Saint Joseph's Center.

As a member of Saint Anthony Parish, Connie served as an organist at both Saints Anthony and Rocco Parishes during the tenures of pastors Monsignors William A. Crotti and J. Anthony Tito, and Reverends Louis E. Pilati, Joseph J. Ferrese, Myron Florey and Anthony Tombasco.

She was a beloved and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.   She took pride and joy in attending all activities her family participated in, including football, basketball, baseball, golf, cheer competitions and dance recitals.  She enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards, painting, knitting, golfing and was a piano enthusiast.

She is survived by three sons, Charles Jr., RPh and wife, Faith (Hoyle), of Dunmore; Bart, her caregiver, of Dunmore; Michael, DMD and wife Kathy (Foley), of Moosic; two sisters, Ann Vita Colangelo, of Marlton, NJ; Rosemary Grochowski and husband William, of Dunmore; grandchildren, Jason, Alex, Michael Jr., Nicholas, Elizabeth Mae; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Leo, and Cora.

Her family would like to thank her many healthcare providers including James A. Sheerer, DO; Randall R. Peairs, MD; James M. Haggerty, DPM.; also Allied Services In-home and Outpatient Rehabilitation Physical Therapy and Palliative Staff; and caregiver, Fallon Reilly.

The funeral will be from SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, 208 Smith Street, Dunmore, with Mass on Saturday, November 30, at 9:30 a.m.  Those who will be attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.

Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.  Friends may call on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Morell-LaBelle Funeral Home, 301 Chestnut Street, Dunmore.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Avenue, Scranton, 18509.
