Obituary

Florence Soranno Magnotta, 81, of Dunmore, Pa., passed away at home on Saturday, June 13, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Florence was married to the late Joseph "Tony" Magnotta for 60 years.

Florence was born in Dunmore on June 3, 1939, daughter of the late Mateo and Beatrice Sileo Soranno. She attended both Dunmore High School and Lackawanna College. She later took employment at National Pretzel, Volpe's Insurance and CMC Hospital; she kept busy in later years working part-time and being with her family. Florence was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Dunmore.

Flossy, as she was called by her loved ones, was a selfless, kind and generous soul. She always took the time to care for everyone before herself. She gave her all so her family would have memories that would give them both roots and wings. She would gladly put on the coffee or tea and listen to all you had to tell, then tell you that today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. There was always room for another chair around the table at her house and plenty of food to boot.

Above all else, she cherished her husband, daughters and grandchildren. Flossy loved her husband; she was the queen and he was the king. Her children and grandchildren brought the most joy to brighten all her days. Her best trait was surrounding everyone with unconditional love.

Florence is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Conway and husband, Grant; Linda Dalbo and husband, Paul; Sharon Magnotta; six grandchildren, Carissa Gilboy and husband, Kyle; Jack Galaydick and wife, Amanda; Samantha Conway and fiancé, Kyle Walsh; Meghan Conway; Nicole and Brian Dalbo; brothers, Donato; William and wife, Mary; Rev. Joseph Soranno; Rev. Jim Scahill; sisters-in-law, Carmella Magnotta, Eleanor Magnotta Evans, Eileen Soranno and Maryann Soranno; many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Dora Ritti, and her four brothers, Matthew, James, Canio and Salvatore Soranno.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her brothers, the Rev. Joseph M. Soranno and the Rev. James Scahill, on Monday August 3rd at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary of Mt. Carmel Church 322 Chestnut St. Dunmore. Visitation will be held from 8:30 AM until time of Mass on Monday the 3rd of August.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Florence's name to the American Cancer Society or the American Red Cross.

Arrangements by the Morell-LaBelle Funeral Home, Dunmore.
