Grace Seashock
March 24, 2024
Grace Seashock, 98, of Scranton, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday. She was the loving widow of George Seashock, who passed away in 2012. They were married on June 22, 1957.
Born in Pittston, Grace was raised in Dunmore by her loving parents, the late Salvatore and Josephine Messina Lombardo. After receiving her education in the Dunmore School District, Grace graduated from the Madame Fenwick Beauty School. One of her proudest accomplishments was opening and running a successful beauty salon in Dunmore for many years. Grace was always ready to offer a haircut to a family member in need, even if they were not as willing. Many of her grandchildren were blessed with the signature bob haircut at some point in their lives.
Grace was a devout Catholic and was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in South Side. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and took pleasure in volunteering her services for the annual pasta dinner and bake sale. Saying the rosary frequently, Grace was sure to keep all her loved ones in her prayers. Her life revolved around her family and her faith. She always had a hot meal and a warm hug for anyone in need. The family always looked forward to gathering for Sunday dinner at her house to enjoy her company and delicious cooking.
Grace's personality could light up a room, and she never failed to produce a laugh. She loved to have fun, whether it be hitting the casino or playing a round of solitaire. Her presence could be felt everywhere - thanks to her active use of Facebook. Grace will be dearly missed.
She is survived by daughters, Cynthia Castelletti and Mary Jo Neal, who resided with her in Scranton; Valerie Gallagher and husband, Philip, South Abington Twp.; and two sons, George Jr., Dallas, Pa.; and Charles Mark, Mountaintop. She is also survived by her sister, Angela Rinaldi, Dunmore. She was loved dearly by her grandchildren, Sarah Grace Crossley and husband, Robin; Mary Kate Gallagher, Clare Gallagher, Gabriella Neal, Cass Neal and Molly Seashock. Grace was thrilled to hug and hold her first great-grandchild, Athena Vale Crossley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Rose Scrimalli and Delores "Dee Dee" Luongo; and a brother, Joseph.
The family would like to thank Grace's aides and Hospice of the Sacred Heart, for all the wonderful care they gave Grace these past few months.
The funeral will be Tuesday at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friends may call at 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of Mass. Those planning on attending the visitation or funeral are asked to go directly to the church. Interment at St. Michael's Cemetery, Dunmore.
The arrangements have been entrusted to the Morell-LaBelle Funeral Home.
