John W Flis

Otherwise known as "Jack" or "The Duke" 75 of Dunmore was called to eternal peace on January 16 2023 Born and raised in Dunmore he is survived by his wife Mary Prendergast Flis of 57 years, the son of the late John and Hannah Turner Flis.

He was a graduate of Dunmore High School. after graduation he served in the United States Army as Military Police during the Vietnam War. He worked as a plumber in the family business "Flis Plumbing and Heating" until retirement.

Jack could be found in his homestead watching the New York Yankees, New York Giants, NASCAR and John Wayne movies with a can of Bud in his hand. He also enjoyed watching his son drag race and attended many events with him. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. He was an active social member of the VFW post 3474 in Dunmore and a frequent patron of the Roosevelt Tavern .

Above all else his love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren will never be forgotten. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at GCMC especially Carly and Rich on CSCU along with an extended gratitude for the staff at Interim Home Health for caring for John while he was at home.

Also surviving a daughter Julie Flis Bennett (William Domenick), Carbondale; A son John M Flis (Carole Fischer), Dunmore; three grandchildren, Brittany Cron (Raymond), Serena Bennett (Joseph) and John M Flis Jr (Madison); Two great grandchildren Kamryn and Kanan. Several nieces , nephews, and brother and sister -in- laws.

He was preceded in death by a sister Janet Flis.

Military honor guard and blessing services will be Wednesday at 6pm in the Morell-La Belle Funeral Home, 301 Chestnut St. Dunmore Pa 18512 Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call Wednesday at the Funeral Home from 3pm until time of service.
