Obituary

Joseph C. Bartos, 87, of Dunmore, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026 at Allied Services Hospice Center. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie Bartos. Born on May 7, 1939, in Scranton, to the late Joseph W. and Mary Bartos. Joseph was a graduate of Dunmore High school and later attended Penn State College and Lackawanna Junior College, where he attained an Associates degree. He joined the United States Air Force as a ground communications equipment repairman, where he was fortunate enough to travel around the world. Joseph and his wife lived in Okinawa, Japan for some time where they welcomed their only child, Michelle. From there they moved to New Delhi, India before moving back to Dunmore, PA. There he worked for Schott Glass as an electrical technician. Joe loved spending time planting and tending to his garden. He also enjoyed watching Penn State Football. In his spare time he loved golfing with friends. Since retiring, he would spend his Monday afternoons at the Dunmore Senior Center painting, which was one of his favorite activities. Every Thursday he would spend time with his favorite buddies at The Waldorf Club. Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marie, sister Joannie Karam and husband, sister-in-laws Joanne Rinaldi and Anjelica Conway, daughter Michelle McNulty, granddaughters Ashley McNulty, Lindsay McNulty and fiancé Josh Pusey, Kelly Johnson and husband Kyle, great-granddaughters Isabella McNulty and Nora Johnson, and nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to specially thank the nurses at Home Health Care Professionals and Allied Services Hospice Center for their care in a time of need.
