Joseph A. Viola

Joseph A. Viola died Saturday evening at Geisinger CMC hospital in Scranton.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Viola (nee Zarra).  The couple would have celebrated their 32nd anniversary this October.

Born in Dunmore, Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Angeline Turso Viola.

He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and afterwards served his country in the United States Navy. Upon returning from the military, he graduated from the York Academy of Photography and opened Viola Photography Studio specializing in bridal photography in Dunmore Corners.

Joe is also survived by his three children, two sons, Brian and fiancé Jessie of Virginia and Jeff and wife Kelly of Philadelphia, and a daughter, Jill Newton and husband Matt of Clark Summit; two brothers, Jim of Dunmore and Dominick of Florida; a sister Ann Clement and husband Bill of Dunmore, and sisters-in-law Loretta and Olga. He has seven grandchildren, Charlie, Joel, Livi, Noah, Jacob, William, and Sarah, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Mike, and a sister, Connie Rothenberger.

The funeral will be Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Anthony of Padua Church, Dunmore at 10 AM. Afterwards there will be a private interment in the family plot. Those who are planning on attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the Church.
