Joy A Preston

October 10, 2026

Joy was a graduate of Dunmore high school and went on to be a Cosmetologist having her own Shop in Scranton. She studied in New York City with George Masters, who was Marilyn Monroe‘s personal Hairdresser. Later she was a graduate of the University of Scranton with a degree in history, psychology and science obtaining high honors and graduating Top in her class. She then went on to be an Equal opportunity officer and Community developer for Scranton and Dunmore. She was in love with books, libraries, continuing education, animals, especially cats, good music, Broadway shows and chocolate. Her kindness and generosity were extended to all in need, without boundaries. She was quick with wit and a master of playing fun tricks on friends, causing all to laugh, at parties or with a simple conversation. She was always in for the good argument and not shy of elegant sarcasm. She took pleasure in weeding while listening to books on tape. Joy always enjoyed creating Japanese gardens in PA and Myrtle Beach. Joy was loved by many and they will miss her smile that lit up the room with laughter and fun, her famous flowered hats, her glistening ocean blue eyes, and her flaming red, Irish hair! I will miss her the most. She will be laid to rest on Saturday at 10 AM in the Glenwood mausoleum located at 703 Morgan Highway those attending are asked to go directly to the Glenwood mausoleum. Arrangements by the Morell-LaBelle Funeral Home.
