Obituary

Mari Corcoran LaBelle, 65, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2023 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Terry and Paul Corcoran, Scranton, PA. Mari was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School, Rosemont College, and Katharine Gibbs College. She married her best friend and the love of her life Paul "P.J." LaBelle, Esq., with whom she recently celebrated 33 years of marriage.  Together they raised three children in Clarks Green, PA. She put her secretarial skills to work at her husband's law office, before retiring in 2020 to begin a new career helping to care for her four grandchildren. Mari loved nothing more than being with her family and was never happier than when they were all together. A voracious reader, she spent countless hours surrounded by books. Whether at home, a bookstore or with her book club, which she helped form over 25 years ago. If you knew Mari, you knew how she loved books. On the rare occasion that she didn't have a book in her hands she would be working on a needlepoint project. She created beautiful pieces which she loved bestowing upon her family and close friends. Throughout Mari's life she cultivated many beautiful and lasting friendships. She was blessed with lifelong friends whom she counted as family.

Mari is also survived by her children; Teresa and her husband Denis Hagmaier, Caroline and her husband Tom Jordan, MD, and James LaBelle, and her grandchildren; Vivian, William, Marigold, and TJ, along with a niece, nephews, and cousins. She is also preceded in death by her mother-in-law Beverly LaBelle and her brother-in-law Christian LaBelle.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 11 am at The Church of Saint Gregory, 330 N Abington Rd, Clarks Green. Friends may call at the church Sunday from 3 pm to 6 pm and Monday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.

The family would like to thank the staff at Regional Hospital Scranton and Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest for the wonderful and loving care given to Mari during her illness and last days. They ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Soup Kitchen, Scranton, PA, a cause close to Mari's heart.

The arrangements have been entrusted to The Morell-LaBelle Funeral Home.
