Martha (Marti) Helen Edwards, 62, of Dunmore, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, after a brief illness.
Martha was born in Dunmore. She was the daughter of Marlene (Manley) Wilga and the late Vincent Wilga. Her husband is Michael Edwards, to whom she was married for 37 years. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1978. Prior to retirement, Martha was a secretary at PNC Bank, Scranton, for many years. She was employed by The Times-Tribune as a carrier for the morning newspaper.
Martha was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone who met her. She took pride in being a grandmother. She enjoyed playing and teaching her grandsons. She enjoyed crafting, researching her family tree and working on her flower garden. Family gatherings were the highlight of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Martha is survived by her loving husband, Michael Edwards; her mother, Marlene Wilga; her son, Michael Jr. and wife, Lynn; daughter, Christine Torres and husband, Michael; and two grandsons, Lucas and William. She is also survived by her brother, Vincent Wilga Jr. and companion, Victoria; her sister, Mary Ann Gardner and husband, David; and her brother, Thomas Wilga and wife, Monica; as well as aunts and cousins.
The family would like to thank everyone who cared for her during her brief illness and for the exceptional care and compassion for her and her family.
The viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov., 19, 2023, at the Morell-LaBelle Funeral Home, 301 Chestnut St., Dunmore.
The funeral will be on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with a graveside service at Dunmore Cemetery. Those planning on attending the funeral are asked to arrive at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m.
