Michael S. Saresky Jr.

Michael S. Saresky Jr. passed away Sunday April 26th at Sacred Heart Hospice in Dunmore, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty L . Saresky, nee Cumbee.

Born in Scranton PA and raised in Throop, he was the son of the late Michael S. Sr. and Helen Bartos Saresky.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician, Third Class during the Korean War. While stationed aboard the USS Intrepid, he traveled extensively, visiting many European countries, but always felt that he would rather be in the U.S. than anywhere.

After returning from service, he was employed by Link Aviation where he built flight simulators.

He retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot in February of 1988 and was able to live retirement to the fullest.

After his retirement, he enjoyed fixing things in his workshop and working in his garden, where he had a yearly competition with his wife and neighbor for the first red tomato! As the unofficial “inspector” of Dunmore, he loved to “supervise” which included a cup of coffee and a critique of your work. The real joy of his retirement was being with his grandchildren Garrett and Hudson. Michael will be fondly remembered for his “denim tuxedo”, his pride and joy 1984 Firebird, which he bought new in '83 and still drove. Most of all he will be remembered for telling you how good he looked for his age.

He is survived by his son, Eric Saresky and wife Ashley; daughter Michele Martin, step-daughter Lisa Soloski; sister Nancy Sienkiewich and husband Jay as well as grandchildren Garrett and Hudson Saresky; step-grandchildren Robert Soloski and Viki Owsiani; nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by son Michael S. Saresky III, step-children Thomas Knott Sr., Arthur Knott Jr; Vicky Ann Knott; step-grandson Thomas Knott Jr. and brothers John and Richard Saresky. There will be no public calling hours. Internment at the convenience of the family.
