Nicholas Pasquale Terrery
It is with deep and profound sadness that the family of Nicholas Pasquale Terrery announces
the passing of their cherished son and brother. He passed on Tuesday July 29th, 2025 at age of
23. He was a beautiful soul, devoted brother and cousin, inquisitive nephew, and the most loyal
friend.
Born in Scranton on January 24th, 2002, he was the son of Kathleen and Michael Terrery;
Nicholas was the light they had prayed to receive. Brother to Elizabeth and Michael, his forever
role model and baby sister, whom he would have done anything for.
Nicholas attended Scranton Preparatory School, along with Loyola University Chicago and Saint
Joe's University, gaining lifelong friends and leaving marks on each community he set foot in.
He was up to try anything, whether that meant playing every sport he could growing up, begging
his parents for a quad at too young of an age, or learning how to do a backflip when the girls
started cheerleading, he did it all.
Adventure and travel were baked into his genes and it was a quality always on display during
family vacations. Spending all of his money on cigars for his uncles when traveling Italy, going
on a safari with his family in Africa, gambling at every island casino he and Michael could find,
and roadtripping to ski with his best friends in Vermont are just a few of the endless stories that
could be told. His sense of humor was unmatched and he always knew how to get people
laughing. Though his true character could be found in the little moments, where his
compassionate and caring side was always shining through.
Kathy would say that since he was a boy, he always loved to "Stop and Smell the Roses", taking
notice of the people, places, and things around him. He had a gift in the ability to truly see
people and know what they needed. He was the type of kid to stop on the side of the road and
help a stranger fix a flat tire. Late night talks with his siblings, which eventually were transferred
to his roommates, were a staple. Not only because he always had more energy than one body
could handle, but also because it was a way he showed his love. He was always ready to stay
up trying to teach his mom about sports and drafts while listening to music because he adored
spending quality time with the people he loved. Proving himself in the family through his
selflessness never went unnoticed, from waking up to him making his own breakfast, to being
the best protector and shoulder to cry on for the girls, he was truly one of a kind.
Golf was one of his favorite pastimes, and busting his family and friends about being so much
better than them definitely added to his love of the game. He so enjoyed being on the course
and it was not unusual for him to stop during a round and see him gazing out at the sunset,
taking in the beauty of life. When he would go for runs, it was always outside, and while the goal
was to train for Spartan races and half marathons, he also loved to explore. His warmth,
laughter, and spirit now lives through every life he touched, and there are far too many to count.
There will be no visitation held, the funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann's Basilica on Monday,
August 4th, 2025 at 10am. Nicholas wanted his life to be celebrated in color, so please reflect
that in your attire. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Children's
Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Division of Allergy and Immunology, St. Ann's Basilica, or
Scranton Preparatory School.
