Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul J. LaBelle, Sr. of Waverly,
PA. He passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, his 93rd birthday. He is now
reunited with his loving wife of fifty-five years, the former Beverly Palmer LaBelle.
Born on February 4, 1933, in Dunmore, PA, Paul was the son of the late Charles LaBelle
and Mary Mecca LaBelle. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and attended the University of Scranton
before enlisting in the United States Army.
Paul is survived by his children: Paul J. LaBelle, Jr. (the late Mari), Laurence Todd
LaBelle (Mary Christa), and Clark P. LaBelle (Jennifer). He was a proud grandfather to
Teresa LaBelle Hagmaier (Denis), Caroline LaBelle Jordan (Tom, MD), James C. LaBelle,
Paul J. LaBelle, Nicholas LaBelle, and Cara LaBelle, and a cherished great-grandfather to
Vivian Hagmaier, William Hagmaier, Marigold Hagmaier, and T. J. Jordan.
He was also preceded in death by his son Christian T. LaBelle, his sister, Margaret
Dench, and his brother, Joseph J. LaBelle.
Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed tennis and golf, but his true passion was playing cards —
especially pinochle and gin. He earned his private pilot's license and had a lifelong love
of airplanes and flying. A devoted car buff, Paul owned several collector cars over the
years and took great pride in them.
Paul was an entrepreneur in the truest sense of the word. He was the owner of
numerous businesses throughout his life, in various industries, including trucking,
bakery supply, tele-communications, construction and manufacturing.
He served his community as a member of various boards, including Allied Services,
COLTS, SLHDA, Liberty Bank of Carbondale and First Eastern Bank.
Paul was a founding member of St. Gregory's Parish in Clarks Green, PA, and was a Life
Member of the Country Club of Scranton, where he enjoyed untold hours with his family
and friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Progressive Care Unit
at Geisinger CMC Hospital, especially Dr. Madden and Paul's Registered Nurse Nate
who provided outstanding and compassionate care.
Visitation will be held at St. Gregory's Church, Clarks Green, on Monday, February 9,
2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday,
