Robert P. Jordan, 78, of Scranton, died Thursday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. He and his wife, Josette, would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in June of this year.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Francis and Margaret Kearney Jordan. Robert was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and later attended the University of Scranton. Moreover, he earned a degree as a biomedical technician from Johnson College.
Robert enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war, he also served as a chaplain for the VFW Post 3451.
Robert was a loving husband and father. He was an avid reader who enjoyed reading both fiction and nonfiction, especially history books. Among his most cherished activities were the many trips to South Bend, Ind., that he and his son took to watch Notre Dame football.
Robert is also survived by his son, Robert F., of Scranton; and several cousins.
He was also preceded in death by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton. Intermen,t Dunmore Cemetery.
The viewing will take place Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. in Immaculate Conception Church. Those planning on attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
