Obituary

Vincent Marrone, 90, of Dunmore, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on February 11, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose steady presence and generous heart touched all who knew him.

Born in Italy, Vincent immigrated to the United States at the age of 16, carrying with him courage, determination, and a deep love for family. He settled in Northeastern Pennsylvania and proudly built his life in Dunmore, the community he would call home for the rest of his days. Like many of his generation, he embodied the spirit of hard work and sacrifice, creating opportunities for his family through dedication and perseverance.

Vince worked for many years at Haddon Craftsmen in Scranton, where he built a reputation for reliability, skill and pride in his work. For over 50 years, Vince was well known for his expertise in shining and reconditioning leather and suede shoes and boots. He humbly practiced his craft at Diamond Shoe Shine and later for many years at his own Vince's Shoe Parlor. These were not just shoe shine shops but sacred places where white collar and blue collar folks mixed on equal ground. Vince did his work at his customer's feet but was held in the highest regards and respect by them all.

Vincent met the love of his life, Barbara, at Nay Aug Park. He shared a beautiful 60-year marriage with his beloved wife, who passed away in December of 2020. Their home was filled with warmth, laughter, and treasured traditions. Though he deeply missed Barbara in the years following her passing, he found comfort in the countless memories they shared over six decades together.

Vincent was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He was a proud and supportive father and grandfather who found his greatest joy in family gatherings and holidays. In recent years, he was especially happy to spend time with his great-grandson, Joey, whose visits brought him immense pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Marrone, and his sister, Anna Meo.

He is survived by his children, Vincent Marrone Jr. of New York City and Ann Pinko of Dunmore, PA; his cherished grandchildren, Deanna Buczko and her husband Joseph of Clarks Summit, Merritt Christensen of New York City, and Jordan Lillie Eschrich and her husband Tim of Reno, NV; and his beloved great-grandson, Joey. He also leaves behind extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close.

Vincent leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion that will live on through the generations that follow him. He will be remembered not only for the life he built, but for the kindness and strength with which he lived it.
