William F. Santarsiero, 82, of Dunmore, died at Geisinger Community Medical Center on Tuesday. Bill was married to the former Lois Capooci. The couple recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in August of this year.
Born in Scranton, the son of the late Frank and Anna Tur Santarsiero. He was a Dunmore High School graduate and attended Lackawanna College. He was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish. Bill served his country as a United States Marine and after returning home he worked as a master plumber owning his own plumbing and heating contracting company, William Santarsiero Plumbing and Heating.
Bill was a member of the Master Plumbers Association. He was a Freemason obtaining the rank of Master Mason. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, UNICO, the Marine Corps League and the Dunmore VFW. Bill enjoyed spending time at his summer residence at Lake Wallenpaupack where he always took care of his deer. He often spent time hunting out west. Bill took special care of his dogs, Rusty, Amber and Mr. Blue.
He is also survived by a daughter, Lois Ann Santarsiero, Dunmore; sons, Joseph and Rosemary, Dunmore; William Jr. and Cathy, Dunmore; Frank and Linda, Dunmore; Michael and Debra, Jefferson Twp.; Robert Joseph and Jeanne, Dunmore; grandchildren, Robert, Brian, Melissa, Frank, Michelle, Michael, Desirae, Alexa, Alexandra and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Brian, AJ, Robert and Sophia; brother, Frank and Carla, Dunmore; sisters, Ann Helene and Tom Cruser; Joanne and Albert Urbanski, Dupont; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Joseph; and godchild, Frank Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish program or the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
The funeral will be held Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Dunmore. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.
Friends and family are invited to call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Morell-LaBelle Funeral Home, 301 Chestnut St., Dunmore.
