About Us
Our mission is to offer affordable dignified funerals in a serene quite atmosphere away from the busy streets and hustle and bustle, funerals that allows you to truly celebrate the life of your loved one. Our belief is that we must return to the way things used to be when the focus of a funeral was on the deceased and their family not on how many 50” flat screens you’re funeral home has or how many sq. feet of marble is on the floor.
Our funeral home was founded by Albert P. Morell in 1943 after Mr. Morell was honorably discharged from WWII as an Army medic. The funeral home had a humble beginning at his parent’s home above the body shop, and in 1945 as his business grew Mr. Morell and his wife Minnie moved the business down the street, to our current facility with the help of a small loan and a lot of hard work.
We are located on Chestnut Street a quiet side street away from the busy main drag, situated on over an acre in a park-like setting with a large front yard and plenty of safe off street parking in the rear of the property. Over the years Abby, as he was affectionately known, began to build a reputation for his attention to detail and his dignified affordable funerals. Mr. Morell took me on as an apprentice in 1996 and with a small loan and a lot of hard work my wife, the former Christa Morano, and I purchased the business in 1997; shortly thereafter Abby died.
Like Abby, we have always been proud of the fact that we do our own work, from the yard work and housekeeping to the embalming and funeral work. Our funeral home is a sole proprietorship not a large corporation like some of the other funeral homes in the area. We don’t have share holders or corporate officers, we don’t use subcontractor to do our embalming and run our viewings and funerals and lastly and most importantly we don’t have a multi-million dollar mortgage and a huge payroll. What we do have is a manageable family owned and operated funeral home with low overhead that offers high quality services and a beautiful warm facility. The best part is that we can offer all this to the families we serve at a very affordable price, often thousands less then other funeral homes. Funerals don’t have to cost $14,000.00 or more.
