Our History

Our funeral home was founded by Albert P. Morell in 1943, after Mr. Morell was honorably discharged from the Army during WWII where he served as medic. The funeral home had a humble beginning at his parent’s home above the body shop, and in 1945 as his business grew, Mr. Morell and his wife Minnie moved the business down the street, to our current facility with the help of a small loan and a lot of hard work. We are located on Chestnut Street, a quite side street away from the busy main drag, situated on over an acre in a park-like setting with a large front yard and plenty of safe off-street parking in the rear of the property.

Over the years, Abby, as he was affectionately known, rapidly began to build a reputation for his attention to detail and his dignified affordable funerals. Mr. Morell took me on as an apprentice in 1996, and with a small loan and a lot of hard work, my wife, the former Christa Morano, and I purchased the business in 1997. Shortly there after Abby died. Like Abby, we have always been proud of the fact that we do our own work, from the yard work and housekeeping to the embalming and funeral work.

Our funeral home is a sole proprietorship, not a large corporation like some of the other funeral homes in the area. We don’t have share holders or corporate officers; we don’t use subcontractor to do our embalming and run our viewings and funerals; and lastly, and most importantly, we don’t have a multi million dollar mortgage and a huge payroll. What we do have is a manageable family owned and operated funeral home with low overhead that offers high quality services in a beautiful, warm facility. The best part is that we can offer all of this to our families at a very affordable price, often thousands less then other funeral homes. Funerals don’t have to cost $14,000.00 or more.
